The technology company Bright Energy AB has developed a digital platform for the energy sector for SEK 31.2 million from new and existing owners. The new investors are Utvecklingsklustret Energi AB, which is jointly owned by several Swedish energy companies, and the Norwegian company Montel AS. The purpose of the investment is to initiate an expansion to the rest of the Nordic region and parts of Europe.

We are currently seeing a huge demand for our service. Therefore, it can be fantastic that with the help of the Development Cluster and Montel we can scale up our business and take it to the rest of the Nordic region and Europe. In addition, we maximize the climate benefits from solar and wind power, and help deal with the problem of capacity shortages in the European electricity grids, says David Forsberg, founder and CEO of Bright.

Bright has an open and data-driven digital platform that energy companies can offer their customers. Among other things, households are encouraged to avoid using electricity during the hours of the day when many people use electricity at the same time, to offer to even out the load on the electricity grid.

The energy development cluster, which is jointly owned by several Swedish energy companies, will contribute to driving digitalisation and the development of smart energy systems forward. The goal is to make sustainable electricity use easier and more attractive for end consumers.

Electrification is one of the solutions to the climate crisis, but it is necessary to optimize energy use and choose customers in the change. Digital platforms such as Brights are crucial for the development of smart grids and that is why we have chosen to invest in Bright, says Maria Bolin Anvill, CEO of the Utvecklingsklustret Energi AB.

Montel AS is an Oslo-based supplier of information and technology for the European energy industry. Bright’s digital platform will be part of Montel’s range of services to energy companies across Europe to provide them with insights and customer usage patterns and data.

Electricity consumers often find it difficult to get an overview of how household electricity use affects both their own costs and the climate. Bright can revolutionize communication between electricity companies and their customers, says Tom Nyblin, CEO of Montel.

Facts

Bright’s platform
Bright has built an open and data-driven digital platform that energy companies can offer their customers. Among other things, households are stimulated to avoid using electricity during the hours of the day when many people use electricity at the same time, so-called power peaks. It helps to maximize the climate benefits from solar and wind power, while the technology helps to deal with the growing problem of capacity shortages in the electricity networks, while it helps to compare the load on the electricity network over all hours of the day. The platform is based on the customer’s own usage patterns and data, where it gives them the tool to understand, control and automate their electricity use at a lower cost and reduced climate impact.
