Öresundskraft has initiated a collaboration with the technology company Bright Energy AB. The deal, which is Bright’s seventh in a short time, gives Öresundskraft’s private customers the opportunity to control and manage their own electricity use. The solution is possible by processing large amounts of data via Bright’s digital cloud platform.

Öresundskraft needed a smart digital cloud platform to utilize the large amount of data they possess. With our solution, Öresundskraft’s customers can easily control and control their home’s energy consumption, cost and environmental impact, says David Forsberg, founder and CEO of Bright.

Bright’s digital solution provides Öresundskraft’s private customers with digital tools to avoid electricity use during the hours of the day when many people use electricity at the same time. The technology thus maximizes the climate benefits from solar and wind power, as it is when the demand for electricity becomes too high that many energy companies import electricity from, for example, lignite.

We chose Bright because their solution covers our entire range of services. We are also very pleased to now be able to offer new digital services that make it easy for our customers to act climate-smart and energy-efficient, says Charlotte Holst, business area manager for consumer solutions at Öresundskraft.

Öresundskraft, founded in 1859 and owned by the city of Helsingborg, provides 125,000 customers with everything from district heating, electricity and district cooling to gas, broadband, the city hub for the Internet of Things and services. Since 2013, the company has only sold electricity from 100 percent renewable sources to private customers.

Bright was established in 2012 and collaborates with electricity, grid and product companies that want to offer their customers the opportunity to control their electricity use. The aim is to maximize the climate benefits from renewable energy sources, reduce costs for consumers and help Sweden’s electricity grid cope with the increased load that electrification entails.
